Info About Titan
Titan is my boy! Words can't even begin to describe the relationship Titan and I share. I first met him in Australia when he was just six weeks old, and we've been inseparable ever since. We are very bonded to one another and just love being together. He follows me everywhere, sleeps at my bedside (or on the bed if my husband is away), and, unbelievably, seems to have a 6th sense about when I'm going to get home from work even though I don't get home at the same time every day. Titan absolutely LOVES to chase the ball, to play tug, and to do agility. He can definitely settle while at home but when it's time to play, Titan has incredible drive and the desire of a true champion. He would practice a weave pole entry or jump sequence a hundred times in a row if I asked it of him. He is eager to please me and has such heart, which makes it one of my life's joys to train and run with Titan. Like the rest of the Filly's Run clan, Titan has more than a few nicknames. Australians use the term “bubby” instead of “baby,” so he was “my bubby” from the get-go. This turned into “Bubzer Houzer,” which then evolved to “Bubzer,” back to “Bubby” and then to the latest one, “Bub.” Whatever I call him, just the sound of my voice makes him come running with boundless energy and exuberance. Even the most unpleasant of chores are made better with Titan's help and company. Based on his size as a puppy and his lineage, we did expect him to be taller than his 19”, however the name “Titan” fits his heart. My boy is getting better and better at the agility game. Though not quite as intuitive as Holly, Titan has a lot of confidence for distance work, especially when sending to tunnels. Lots of horsepower in his rear, super-quick reflexes, and the ability to turn like a cutting horse have produced some great course times and give him nice ground speed, which surprises some people because of his larger bone structure. Titan also has a really long stride, which is both a blessing and a challenge. His long stride make tight courses challenging for us while he's still figuring out exactly when to lift for a jump. However, this long stride plus his speed and power are very different from Holly, who is shorter, and thereby has shorter strides, and Karrie, who is also long-strided but “feels” lighter. Running Titan is certainly sharpening my handling skills, though, because being on time, calm, and smooth are imperative to our success on course. He watches me constantly and responds instantaneously to my every move – intended or not. The runs where we are really in sync and it all comes together for us are one wild ride! I honestly don't think I could love him more if he were a human son; and just when I think I can't possibly love him any more than I already do, our relationship seems to deepen even more. His temperament, like all the Tullacrest dogs, have the perfect mix of drive and companionship. He has a tremendous work ethic, yet he's gentle and loves to cuddle. Titan truly is my special, special boy.
